The following Road Closure(s) or other road restrictions have been advised by
Essex County Council under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act
1984, as amended and may affect village residents. Please note that
sometimes the dates provided are estimates only and the order may provide for an
extended period of closure in order to complete works particularly if
weather-affected.

Baker's Lane
 |
To temporarily close Baker’s Lane, Colchester between
its junctions with Braiswick and Spring Lane; and Spring Lane,
Colchester between its junctions with Baker’s Lane and Cymbeline Way.
The closure is required to enable urgent carriageway repairs to be
undertaken by Essex County Council. The alternative route is via
Cymbeline Way, Colne Bank Avenue, Westway, Bergholt Road and Braiswick.

Chitts Hill Level Crossing |
To temporarily close that length of Chitts Hill for 20 metres either side of the level crossing
from 23:50pm on Saturday 6th March until 06:30am on Sunday 7th March and
again between 23:00pm on 13th and 06:30am on Sunday 14th March. The closure is required
facilitate maintenance work to the level crossing by Network Rail.
The alternative route will be via Halstead Road – Spring Lane –
Argent Lane and vice versa.

Rams Farm Road, Fordham
 |
To temporarily close Rams Farm Road, Fordham from a
point approximately 220 metres west of its junction with the B1508
Colchester Road west for approximately 650 metres. The closure is
scheduled to start on 4 March 2010 for 5 days to facilitate urgent
repair work to damaged telephone cables by BT.
An alternative route is available via B1508 Colchester Road, Packards
Lane and Plummers Road and vice versa.

Chitts Hill Level Crossing |
To temporarily close that length of Chitts Hill for 20 metres either side of the level crossing on 31st January
2010 between 01:50am and 06:50am or where appropriate signs are showing
and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of
the public and workforce whilst maintenance works are undertaken my
Network Rail.
The alternative route will be via Halstead Road – Spring Lane –
Argent Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the closure.

A134 Nayland Road, and The Causeway, Great
Horkesley

ECC has introduced a temporary 10mph speed limit under
Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in
The A134 Nayland Road and The Causeway, Great Horkesley between its
junctions with London Road and Coach Road. The restriction is required
in the interests of public safety and the safety of workers whilst
resurfacing works are carried out by Essex County Council.

3 to 4 days 2009 |
Chitts Hill Level Crossing |
ECC has temporarily closed Chitts Hill, Colchester for
a distance of 25 metres either side of the level crossing. The closure
will start on 9 October 2009 and is required because of the likelihood
of danger to the public due to a damaged electricity cable. Works to
repair the cable are expected to last approximately 3-4 days.
An alternative route is available via Argents Lane, Spring Lane,
Halstead Road and vice versa.
Access to property will be maintained during the closure.

New Church Road

To temporarily close New Church Road from its junction
with School Lane to its junction with Lexden Road commencing on 24th
August for 5 days. The closure is required for the safety of
public and workforce whilst drainage works are undertaken. The
alternative route will be via School Lane, B1508 Colchester Road, Lexden
Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained during the closure
although there will be no access for cyclists.

Chitts Hill Level Crossing |
To temporarily close that length of Chitts Hill Level
Crossing for 20 metres either side of the level crossing on 23 August
2009 between 01:50am and 06:50am and also from 11:30pm on 28 August 2009
to 07:00am on 1 September 2009 or where appropriate signs are showing
and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of
the public and workforce whilst maintenance works are undertaken my
Network Rail.
The alternative route will be via Halstead Road – Spring Lane –
Argent Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian & cycle access will be maintained during the closure.

Spring Lane

A temporary closure of Spring Lane between Spring Lane
roundabout and Chase Way between 09:30am and 3:30pm each day. The
closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst
works to replace an aerial cable are undertaken by BT.
The alternative route will be via A133 Colchester by pass – A134
Station Way – North Station Road – B1508 Bergholt Road – Bakers Lane and
vice versa.
Access for emergency service vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians will be
maintained at all times during the closure.
Although not in or adjacent to the village this may affect villagers
using the route between Braiswick Road and Spring Lane Roundabout.

Argents Lane
 |
A temporary closure of Argents Lane, Eight Ash Green
and West Bergholt between its junctions with Chitts Hill and Spring
Lane. The closure is scheduled to start on 22 June 2009 for 5 days to
facilitate carriageway repair works by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Chitts Hill, Halstead Road and
Spring Lane and vice versa.
Access to property will be maintained during the closure.

Chapel Lane |
A temporary closure of Chapel Lane, West Bergholt from
a point approximately 60 metres from its junction with Bourne Road for a
distance of 20 metres, to a point adjacent with the property ‘Crispins’.
The closure is required to enable Dyno-Rod to connect a re-routed sewer.
An alternative route is available via Bourne Road, Newbridge Hill and
Chapel Road and vice versa.
Access to property will be maintained during the closure as will
general access for cyclists and pedestrians.

Chapel Lane |
A temporary closure of Chapel Lane from a point 60
metres north of its junction with Bourne Road proceeding northwards for
a distance of 100 metres. The closure is scheduled to take place
between 08:30am and 4:30pm, and is required for the safety of the public
and workforce whilst repair works are undertaken to water services.
The alternative route will be via Bourne Road – Queen Road – Chapel Road
and vice versa.
Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be
maintained at all times during the closure.

A temporary closure of Chitts Hill for a distance of 20
metres either side of the level crossing. The closures are
scheduled from:
- 00:30hrs on 9th May until 07:00hrs on 11th May

- 07:30am until 08:30pm on 31st May
... and are required for the
safety of the public and workforce whilst 'commissioning works' are
undertaken by Mouchel.
An alternative route is available via Halstead Road, Spring Lane and
Argents Lane and vice versa.
Access for pedestrians, including prams and wheelchairs, emergency
services, residents and visitors will be
maintained during the closure.

to take place between 01:35am and 06:55am on Sunday 12th April and and
01:45am and 06:50am on Sunday 3rd May and is to facilitate track works
by Network Rail.
An alternative route is available via Halstead Road, Spring Lane and
Argents Lane and vice versa.
Access for pedestrians, including prams and wheelchairs, emergency
services, residents and visitors will be
maintained during the closure.

There will be a temporary closure of Spring Lane from
its junction with Heath Road to its junction with A1124 Halstead Road in
the Parish of Eight Ash Green
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce
whilst carriageway patching and repair works are undertaken by Essex
County Council. Access will be maintained for emergency service
vehicles, residents and visitors all times during the closure.
An alternative route will be available via Heath Road – Wood Lane –
A1124 Halstead Road and vice versa.

A temporary closure of Chitts Hill for a distance of 20
metres either side of the level crossing. The closure is scheduled
to take place from 05:00 hours on Saturday 14 March to 06:00 hours on
Monday 16 March 2009 to facilitate track works.

Argents Lane and vice versa.
Access for pedestrians, including prams and wheelchairs, will be
maintained during the closure.

A temporary closure of Chitts Hill for a
distance of 20 metres either side of the level crossing. The closure is scheduled to take place from
23:30 hours on Saturday 3rd January to 07:00 hours on Sunday 4th January
to enable maintenance work to the railway to be undertaken. An alternative route is available via Halstead Road, Spring Lane and
Argents Lane and vice versa.
Cyclists, pedestrians, prams and wheelchairs will be able to travel
through the closure.

A temporary no waiting and no loading restriction in
the lengths of road and during the dates and times specified. The
restriction is required due to the likelihood of danger to the public
and to maintain safe access to Holmwood House during the NSPCC book
fair. No Waiting and No Loading Between 8.00am and 4.00pm on Saturday
25 October and Sunday 26 October 2008.
Chitts Hill – both sides from the level crossing
southwards and westwards to its junction with Halstead Road.
Halstead Road, Colchester – both sides from a point 20 metres west of
its junction with Chitts Hill to a point 20 metres south of its junction
with Chitts Hill.

Fordham Place Road,
West Bergholt |
Fordham Place Road, West Bergholt will be temporarily
closed to all traffic for its entire length. The closure is
scheduled to start on 03 September 2008 for 3 days to facilitate
carriageway repairs. An alternative route is available via Colchester Road and Coney Byes
Farm Road and vice versa.
Access to property will be maintained during the closure. |
