Household Characteristics

Introduction

The household survey carried out in September 2006 attracted 215 responses which equates to a 15% response rate.  This is a statistically significant return rate and provided the mainstay of the information about household composition and employment.

Key Features

The following statistical information was recorded by the survey:

•     242 males and 267 females, including 246 children/students
•     Roughly equal numbers of employed and retired people
•     22% of households had lived for five years or less in the village, 70% for 15 years or less and 96 for 50 years or less

Comparison with 2001 Census

Comparisons with the last census revealed a slight bias in our sample with more retired people answering the household survey than would have been representative of the census.
