Braiswick Road - A12 Bridge Replacement
Highways Agency contractors have been working on the replacement of the old
bridge which no longer met current safety requirements since January 2007 and
the replacement is now fully in service.
The new bridge was brought into
full operation during Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th August as the old one was
removed. All that now remains is for some minor works to take place
removing heavy plant and equipment, some painting unable to take place during
the heavy rain over the weekend, some 'wing-wall construction on the lead-up to
the bridge and finishing of footways and cycle-paths - these may involve
temporary traffic controls.
In the event of local delays, Essex County Council had previously posted a
recommended diversion route avoiding the bridge which runs via Nayland Road (West Bergholt), Coach Road,
Nayland Road (Great Horkesley), Northern Approach Road and North Station Road
and vice versa (pictured right).
